Project origination · African Sky perspective

What makes an opportunity ready for a serious conversation?

An initial project discussion does not need every technical detail. It does need enough clarity for the next participant to understand the opportunity and the role they are being asked to play.

At African Sky Technology, we start by asking who is sponsoring the project, what stage it has reached, what information is available and which decision needs to be made next. Those questions help distinguish an introduction from a useful commercial engagement.

Put the project stage in context

Information about the site, land, grid interface, energy user or offtaker, development responsibilities and procurement timetable helps participants understand what still needs to be established. An early opportunity and a project ready for supplier evaluation require different forms of support.

Be specific about the next step

A request for an EPC discussion, a technology assessment or a market-entry partner should explain the intended outcome. We use that clarity to coordinate relevant conversations and avoid presenting early interest as a committed or bankable project.

Begin with the project’s operating objective.

Our starting point for a storage discussion is the application: what should the system enable, for whom and in what project context? The purpose may involve renewable-energy integration, energy availability, industrial operations or a wider hybrid-power requirement.

We seek a clear description of the operating objective before bringing a supplier into a detailed commercial discussion. Where available, information about power and energy requirements, the connection point, operating conditions and project timing helps establish a useful brief.

Make the interfaces visible

Generation, storage, grid and site requirements should be discussed with the appropriate technical parties. We help coordinate those conversations so that project participants understand the scope they are evaluating and the information still required.

Keep the commercial context alongside the technology

Procurement responsibilities, support expectations and the project’s commercial structure belong in the discussion from the outset. African Sky’s contribution is to help organise the engagement; system design and performance assessment remain with the appointed specialists.

Africa market entry · African Sky perspective

Build a route to market around relevant relationships.

For an international renewable-energy company, a market-entry plan should be specific about the customers, projects and commercial arrangements it is seeking. A broad regional ambition becomes more useful when translated into focused market priorities.

We begin with the company’s capabilities and the needs of the relevant market. That informs which developers, EPCs, utilities, investors or energy users may be appropriate to engage and what information they will need to assess a potential relationship.

Define how the partnership will work

Introductions, representation, proposal support and ongoing business development are different responsibilities. Agreeing the scope, commercial terms and confidentiality arrangements early helps both parties understand the engagement.

Connect activity to a clear purpose

Our approach is to build relationships around relevant project and market opportunities, with agreed next steps and realistic expectations. The objective is a durable commercial relationship supported by useful work over time.
